I live in Plymouth and I am a painter, drawer, sculpture and teacher. I begin with some stuff; some clay, something to draw/paint with, something to draw/paint on, and a subject. That subject is usually either a place in Plymouth, an object in my studio, or a friend of mine - but it would be more true to say that my subject is actually my mental experience of them whilst I am trying to draw/paint/sculpt them. What I am trying to do is bring what I am making into some sort of communion with my experience of the subject. I don’t have a set method, or know how to do it, but when something seems to me to come off, I do have a visceral feeling of connection between myself, the subject and what I am making.
